Every Volvo we build is the sum total of more than 70 years of focusing on safety. Which means you're not just driving a car. You're driving a promise. We have built in a host of pro-active safety systems to help prevent accidents. Emergency Brake Assist, Blind Spot Information System, Dynamic Stability and Traction Control and Electronic Brake Distribution are all part of Volvo's safety innovations.
We also invented the three-point seatbelt. And we deliberately didn't patent it, to make sure it was used by other car manufacturers. Volvo was also the first to create its own Traffic Accident Research Unit in 1970. From that work we have developed innovative solutions like our Whiplash Protection System, which has proven to reduce whiplash injuries by 50 %.
